The Grammys 2016: The good, The bad and the down right ratchet

Awards season is in full swing right now and musics biggest night of the year went down this Monday. During this time of mad performances, the red carpet always seems to take the limelight even when these awards are supposed to be about talent. ‘Excuse me, who are you wearing’ is the first thing out of E!’s representatives mouths at ALL TIMES and it can be quite overwhelming when it’s by no means an awards evening for who wore it better. Nonetheless, we’ve got to do our part and absolutely rip the worst dressed to bits and praise everyone who came out A1.

The good:

Let’s start with our fave guilty obsession: Justin Bieber. He’s giving us so much life in this monochrome get-up with his freshly bleached hair which I would usually despise on men, but it’s JB so everything goes out the window. What’s cuter than JB on his own, is JB with his little bro in the most adorable tux ever! The duo look smart and classy as they walked the red carpet. One thing I can say is cut the bum-fluff, it was cute when you were 13 but even your lil bro is gesturing towards getting rid of it, take his advice Biebs.

Next up we have Hollywoods most loved couple (not Kim K & Kanye) But their polar opposites: Chrissy Teigan and John Legend. When I found out that Chrissy was with child, I was over the moon, this couple cracks me up on the daily with Chrissy’s hilarious sense of humour and John’s pure talent. Showing off her bubba bump, she is rocking a cape gown which fits on her growing body like a glove. We love how white looks on her because not many pregnant gals can pull that off so hats off to you Chrissy! Her man is rocking an eccentric blazer which I am not mad about, he looks dapper and she looks elegant, make-up and hair on fleek!

I must say, there weren’t too many outfits I was truly obsessed with, but this one, this one had me wishing I could just go ahead and ‘add to cart’ with this fabulous number… Without further ado, I present you with T-Swift:

I meannnn, these two colours together are what my dreams are made of, I have legit been searching for a coordinated outfit incorporating these two colours EVERYWHERE, she is screaming SPRING HAS COME EARLY and I am loving it. Only thing I’m not crazy about are the heels, she could’ve done with a more elegant shape instead of a chunky platform in a metallic bronze…slightly tacky, but otherwise love the new do, the outfit, the choker and her make-up.  Can we now divert our attention to T-Swift’s squad bestie: Alessandra Ambrosio:

If you’re gonna rock up to an awards evening that has ZERO to do with your talent/background this is the way to do it! Right down to her coordinated shoes and accessories straight to her make up and hair, this look is so fierce it could cut a bish. The cut-outs are super in right now and not to mention the choker trend that is being seen all over online retailers big high street brands like Topshop. Sexy yet sophisticated, I’m dying over her make-up look and NEED to know where that eyeshadow is from.

The bad and the down-right Ratchet:

So, I’m not one to bash someone cause they’ve clearly got an awful stylist but, c’mon guys it’s the Grammys! Put some effort into it, these guys had it all wrong from the get-go… Do they even look in the mirror before they hit the carpet?  Let’s start with Zendaya.

For somebody who has the fame status to be known only by their first name, Zendaya you have royally messed this one up. We get it, you’re a fashion maniac and you wanna try new stuff and you wanna do the whole unisex vibe and channel your inner Jaden Smith for Louis Vuitton women’s SS16, understandable… However, you’re a stunning girl and this haircut is where it all went downhill for me, the outfit could be cute but paired with that bowl cut, you’re never coming out of this one alive, good luck on the fashion police girl. Next up: is that you Wiz?

Straight outta a botched laundry deal, Wiz thought to himself in an intoxicated state ‘Imma make cropped happen’ and ran with it. If this cropped blazer wasn’t bad enough if you squint you can see the patchy glittery vest he’s wearing underneath it…Horrendous to say the least. One thing I do have to say is Wiz is seriously rocking that ombré hair do so at least there’s that. Because I don’t like to butcher too many celebs, the last but certainly not least is Big Sean, not giving us the big vibes with this number:

I definitely do not F with this outfit for sure. Is that a Tiffany’s lock charm necklace I see? Ariana Grande did some damage. You see, there are two different ways to approach this monochrome look, you can either do it like Justin Bieber did early on in this post, classy, minimal and understated or you can just turn into straight-up Tony Montana from Scarface and might as well call it a night. A huge NO to this outfit, soz Big Sean. Did I say last but not least, well I was lying, Ms Gomez, I love you but what is this?!

Either a mermaid just puked all over you or Tinker Bell is your stylist because this is what I would call a prom nightmare, I usually love everything Selena wears but this is just not up to par with her usual outfits. The cut-outs are boring, the colour isn’t great on her the shiny get-up just isn’t for the Grammy’s at all. Something a little bit more mature would have sufficed. The hoops are killing me even further; d-e-a-d.

Now on an ending note, I’d like to shoutout to our boy DJ Khaled for lookin’ fresh af at the Grammy’s, no doubt he walked that red carpet like it was his pathway to success and his stylist has got it all right with his attention grabbing tux:

Look at that fresh beard trim and from what I can gauge some Yeezy’s on his feet, this textured and patterned blazer does him all kinds of favours in looking fly so the key to success really lies in DJ Khaled’s hands for this awards evening. Best dressed 2k16: DJ Khaled, we all know what he was repping at the after party.
